Family of four is very interested
in reducing the amount of fossil fuel use in their home. With two teenagers
and a busy household, their oil usage has continuously risen over past
years. To deal with this problem RES installed a Solar Hot Water system.
With three flat plates mounted on the antique farm house, the system
produces 90% of all hot water needs. Along with solar, the home owners
decided to have RES replace their inefficient and outdated oil burner
with a new Buderus boiler. The Solar Installation qualified for both
the Federal and State Tax Credits saving the Family 45% off their total
cost. They received 0% financing over seven years through Mass Save.
This is a monthly payment of less than $200.
With the new solar system, efficient boiler, and improved insulation, the household will reduced its fossil fuel use by an estimated 650 gallons each year.
Arlington, MA
Living in the Boston area, this Arlington
resident has been looking to reduce his use of fossil fuel for both
environmental and financial reasons. This couple decided that the solution
was to hire RES to design and install a complete solar system. They
now have a beautiful four collector, 120 evacuated tube roof mount that
supplies the home with both domestic hot water and space heating. The
system was installed on the south facing roof, to produce the most amount
of winter heating
possible. It has a 60 gallon tank for domestic hot water and a larger tank for solar heating. Once the domestic tank is satisfied, by around 10am, the heated water fills the larger tank that is piped to multiple fan convectors which supply excellent heat throughout the residence.

Combination Domestic Hot Water & Space Heating
Committed to being more self sufficient, this home owner had RES install a combination solar hot water and solar space heating system in his two unit multifamily home. This combination system is a great way to use every bit of the suns energy. For the space heating, he decided to use staple up radiant which is the most efficient way to use solar for heating. At the request of the homeowner, RES installed an additional tank which allows the second tenant to receive domestic hot water as well. This system sets RES Solar apart from its competitors.

A local school teacher, this home owner loves to swim in her backyard pool, however up until this past year, she often found that the pool was too chilly. She did not feel good about spending significant funds on heating her pool with conventional gas fueled heaters. She recently chose to "Go Solar". RES installed six Aquatherm collectors, mounted on the roof, in just a few days. This system, along with using a pool cover at night, has made her pool a consistent 85 degree and will extend her swimming season much longer, into October. Now she will be able to swim as early as May! "this has kept our pool at 85 degrees all summer. Now we use our pool all the time. I love it!".
